Sankar Foundation Founder Atmakuri Sankar Rao’s Services Lauded
Sankar Foundation celebrated the 93rd birth anniversary of its Founder Shri Atmakuri Sankar Rao as “Founder’s Day” on 2nd September 2024 on its campus. Sri Atmakuri Krishna Kumar, Trustee, and Sri K Radhakrishnan, GM (Admn & Operations) and heads of all departments garlanded the statue of Sankar Rao and paid floral tributes to him to mark the occasion.
On the occasion, Sankar Foundation saw the presence of major corporate officials: Sri Naveen Makheja MD & CEO, South Asia LPG Company; Sri Atul Kumar Srivastava, GM, L&T; Sri LS Rao, Chief GM, GAIL; Sri MVS Murthy, GM, GAIL; Sri SVSSN Raju, Regional Manager, Inox Air Products; Sri N Venkat Rao, MD, Nekkanti Sea Foods; Dr Rokkam Rammanohar, Former DRDO Scientist and Sri Kesva Majji, Barzilai Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated the services rendered by the foundation to the society in eliminating of avoidable blindness and assured that they will continue to support the foundation in the future in its journey towards excellence in eye care management.
Sankar Foundation organized a meeting in which around 230 representatives of NGOs, Vision Centres, and its supporters based in three districts of Srikakulam, Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatnam were present. The best performers for their support and services to the community were felicitated by the dignitaries and Sri Krishna Kumar and Sri Radhakrishnan.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Krishna Kumar recalled the vision and commitment of his father and expressed his gratitude to the Sankar Foundation partners who have always supported the foundation. Sankar Foundation achieved a milestone of performing a record number of 4,52,240 eye surgeries so far, he added.
Sri K Radhakrishnan thanked the corporate representatives for reposing their faith in the hospital and also for their continuous support. The hospital is providing the best of medical facilities and patients will be taken care of with quality treatment, he added. The participants praised Sankar Foundation highly for their continuous support.
Earlier, Dr T Raveendra, Prof Krishna Prasad, Dr Nasrin, Dr Sirisha, Dr Krishna and Dr Suparna highlighted the latest facilities in the hospital through their presentations. Sri V Ramesh Kumar, DGM was the compere for the programme. Sri Appala Raju, Senior Manager (Outreach) welcomed the gathering.
( Late) Dr. Kumar studied Law and Economics at the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and Chennai. He was a Chartered Accountant of repute with offices in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Smt. K. Mani Mala is a postgraduate holding an MBA. She started her career as a founder faculty of one of the first management colleges in Visakhapatnam, viz. Indian Institute of Advanced Management. She worked with East India Petroleum Limited as its first employee and as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director. She was also associated in establishing the Joint Venture with M/s SHV Energy of Netherlands as General Manager (MIS). During her tenure she was also associated with other group companies such as 16 MW & 450 MW gas-based power projects in AP and 16 MW & 100 MW hydel power plants in Himachal Pradesh.
